Boys and Their Fashion Sense

When my daughter was little you might have found her dressed in a Tinkerbell costume, with Cinderella slippers, wearing a beauty queen crown waving Fairy Godmothers Wand. Cute, frilly, and all girl right? Well, boys are A LOT different when chosing what clothes to wear. They are often found wearing whatever they can find laying around the house.

Phoenix's latest fashion sense involved wearing his Firetruck shirt, Choo Choo "Twain" underwear and his Lumber Jack boots. He struts this style around the house very well.

Then we have Jonah. Jonah brings fashion to a whole new level. He absolutely loves to wear any and all hats.

Jonah doesn't care if their pink - he rocks the color pink

Phoenix also likes to wear hats. Makes him feel manly.

So gangsta! Jonah likes to pimp hardcore.

This is what happens when he's been out partying all night. Still has to have his boots on though.

Loves wearing Daddy's "chrome dome". Gotta stay safe when riding "KOTA the Dinosour"

Phoenix thought he'd try this one on for size. He didn't like it though, he said it made him feel like shit.
You never have a lack of smiles in your day with boys in the house.

Do You REALLY Know About Vaccines?

Are You Using the Terms "IMMUNIZATIONS" and "VACCINATION" Properly?

I hear a lot of people incorrectly use the term "Immunizations". Vaccination & Immunization are NOT synonyms. Vaccination is the *physical act* of administering an immunobiologic (vaccine) or toxoid. Immunization is the *process* that takes place inside of your phisiology to try to induce an artificial immunity. So when you say, "I'm taking my child to the Dr to get them immunized." Your really not. All your doing is taking them to get a vaccine, whether or not they develop an immunity remains to be seen. Even the CDC says this, "Although persons often use "vaccination" and "immunization" interchangeably, they are NOT synonyms...the administration of an immunobiologic (a vaccine) CANNOT be automatically equated with the developement of adequate immunity" SOURCE: MMWR Vol 43/NO.RR-1

Parents please do your research on what is being injected into your children. KNOW what is in the vaccines and outweigh your risks. Are the chicken pox really that bad to risk a serious side effect with the vaccine? It can't happen to your child? Well, it happens to someones child otherwise there wouldn't be known side effects. Did you know that thousands of vaccine related illnesses/deaths go unreported every single year? The Dr. DOES NOT have to report a vaccine related illness or death, you can go to the CDC website and actually report one yourself. The CDC process reminds me of the new release movie The Crazies.

EDUCATE BEFORE YOU VACCINATE BECAUSE YOU DO HAVE CHOICES

Have You Read the H1N1 Vaccine Package Inserts?

The H1N1 flu vaccine inserts are very informative, but there is no claim or guarantee of a great cure all. In fact the inserts contain numerous warnings, contraindications, and adverse reactions. So, why do we have a media infused, CDC agenda myth that the swine flu vaccination is absolutely the most effective, safest cure all on the face of the earth?

You will find this paragraph in all the vaccine inserts. "Specific levels of HI antibody titers post-vaccination with inactivated influenza virus vaccine have not been correlated with protection from influenza virus. In some human studies, antibody titers of 1:40 or greater have been associated with protection from influenza illness in up to 50% of subjects."

As of this date, four swine flu vaccines have received FDA approval for use in the US (insert information link included):

MedImmune, which is a subsidiary of London-based AstraZeneca, offers an intranasal spray that contains live attenuated virus.

(the package insert) (note: the adverse reaction information for MedImmune's vaccine is based on studies conducted with the seasonal flu version known as FluMist). According to the insert, FluMist has demonstrated a mere 44.5 percent reduction in influenza rate when looking at all strains, compared to active controls (other flu vaccines).

Novartis, Novartis' Influenza A(H1N1)

(Novartis package insert). The adverse reaction information for this swine flu vaccine is based on studies conducted with the seasonal flu vaccine Fluvirin, NOT the A(H1N1) vaccine itself. It is worth noting that the safety data for Fluvarin (upon which the safety data for the swine flu vaccine is based), was collected from 29 clinical studies over the past 27 years that included no more than 2,768 adults. In these studies, the subjects were observed for 30 minutes after vaccination, and were instructed to complete a diary card for the three days following immunization, to collect local and systemic reactions.

So, keep in mind that the "safety data" for this vaccine is based on studying human subjects for FOUR DAYS. Not weeks, months, or years, to see if problems occur down the line.

Sanofi-Pasteur, (Sanofi-Pasteur's Influenza A(H1N1) 2009 Monovalent vaccine insert) The adverse reaction information for Sanofi-Pasteur's vaccine is based on studies conducted with the seasonal flu version known as Fluzone. The safety data for infants under the age of 3 is based on adverse reactions of 19 children, reported within a mere three days of vaccination.

CSL Biotherapies, Inc., (CSL's Influenza A(H1N1) 2009 Monovalent vaccine insert) The adverse reaction information for CSL's vaccine is based on studies conducted with the seasonal flu version known as Afluria. Here the safety data is based on adverse reactions reported within 21 days of vaccination. It's also worth noting that the safety assessment studies were done using mercury-containing placebos, which may significantly skew the data as the control group would most likely experience similar side effects of the thimerosal as those receiving the actual vaccine.

Additionally, tucked away on page 10 of this insert states: "No controlled clinical studies demonstrating a decrease in influenza disease after vaccination with Afluria have been performed."

Anything we give our children, rather it is the food we eat, the beverages we drink, the supplements we take, the vaccines or medications suggested - pull out all the stops and get to the facts, read the labels, read the inserts, and make informed decisions.

Flu Shots Will Be Made With Bugs

Flu shots are going to be made from bugs. Now they are going to ask us to be injected with shots containing insect DNA. You can read the article here

Accountabililty Goes Both Ways

I don't know how many times I've seen on another website I'm a member of that parents who choose not to vaccinate should have their children taken away, that insurance companies shouldn't pay for anything related to something the vaccine may have prevented, or that the parents should be accountable and charged if the child contracts a disease there is a vaccine for. If so, why wouldn't the same go for parents who do choose to vaccinate? Everyone knows that all vaccines come with very serious risks and none are totally safe. At least I hope everyone knows. So why shouldn't parents who choose to vaccinate their kids have them taken away? After all, they're knowingly putting their child(ren) at risk. If insurance shouldn't pay for children possilby contracting vaccine preventable diseases, should they also not cover damages caused by vaccines? If a vaccinated child contracts a vaccine preventable disease, is the parent accountable for making the choice to risk them when no protection was gained? If a parent should be charged due to their non vaccinated child being harmed by something that may have been prevented by a vaccine, should the parent of a vaccinated child who's vaccines(s) killed or injured him/her be charged as well? Accountability goes both ways. Vaccinations are and should remain a choice for this very reason. Bad may come from either side. There is no one 100% guaranteed safe option. Just weighing out risks and benefits. Do you know just how many parents would be screwed if they were held accountable for their child(ren)'s vaccine related injuries or death? Far more than the number of parents who's child(ren) suffered from not being vaccinated. There's something to think about.

Oh and in case your wondering I don't vaccinate at all until 2 years of age when their immune system is developed. Yes you do have a choice, you don't HAVE to vaccinate. How many times has the Dr gave you the vaccine insert to read prior to being injected with a vaccine? Know your rights folks, read up on them.

Why Spring Cleaning is Good for You

It's almost that time of year again. The time of year to open the windows and hear the birds chirp while you drink your morning coffee. The light breeze that flows thru your home refreshing and recycling your air. You all know what I'm talking about - the type of weather that makes you want to clean!

Today, Spring Cleaning is more of a tradition that a necessity. It’s kind of interesting to note why spring cleaning is such a grand tradition. Back in the olden days, people used to heat their homes with coal which produced a sooty residue on furniture, walls, and linens during the cold months of the winter. When warmer weather arrived, houses required a full scrubdown to get rid of all the soot and grime. Since we use much cleaner heat, we don’t have to worry about this sort of thing. But there is that end of winter feeling to contend with. Everybody sits around, windows shut, breathing all over everybody. Paraffin residue from candles, dust, dirt tramped in from outside, salt. As clean as our heat may be, nothing feels or smells better than that first day of spring where you can throw open the windows and air that shit out! Truly, fresh air is a dust mite’s worst enemy.

WHY is Spring Cleaning so important?

It feels natural, feels like a cycle of nature. It helps you get back in touch with the natural inclination to shed the old and make room for the new. Like our physical bodies shed their skins so that the new can come in. It’s a way to keep the energy in your home clean, clear and alive.

How can decluttering and organizing my home help my emotional well-being?

If your surroundings are cluttered and weighed down, you will feel the weight on your mind or feel it as a burden. You have to keep the relationship with your home 'healthy' and to do that you must keep it clear.

Some people fail to realize that we are effected by our surroundings, it has an impact on us. By being aware, you can stay feeling internally clean and light by staying on top of your clutter. Like a relationship with another person, you need to deal with the "stuff" in your home as it comes.

How can a busy person start to make a dent in the problem?

You can literally go insane by trying to keep up with modern, American life. If you don’t have time to keep your space in order, that’s a sign that something is out of balance in your life. Ultimately we are in control of our lives, you decide in the end how to manage the time. It’s about taking back charge of your life. It may appear you have to say yes to all these commitments, but maybe you really don’t.

What are some steps to get a handle on the clutter in your home?

If you don't use it often or absolutely love it - donate it, toss it, regift it....bottom line - get rid of it! For everything else, it's important that everything has a home. One of the most important things to remember is that you're home wouldn't have clutter if you would simply put it away after using it. You have to be willing to put in the time it takes every day. Otherwise it piles up and it starts to feel like a stress. Just a few minutes every day makes a big difference at the end of the month. One thing you can do today to start reducing paper clutter is to sign up to receive less junk mail.

Well, what about my junk drawer or junk a.k.a "storage" room?

You need to make wise decisions about the stuff in your home. You need claim your home as your own and know that you can decide what to have in it. Have clear cut boundaries and don’t feel guilty about not displaying someone’s gift to you that you don’t like. You’re free to choose. You are the “artist” of your home and you are responsible for it. You might as well be happy in your home.

In the following days I will be posting Spring Cleaning Tips/Checklists to assist you in reclaiming your home.

Be proud of your home and rid yourself of the CHAOS "Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome".

Puddles, Mud, and Boys OH MY!

We have this very annoying dip in our driveway that collects all of the water running down our street as well as from the run-off from our backyard. Every time it rains just a little we get this puddle. It's always been a nuisance until now. Why now you ask?? Because I have BOYS. What boy doesn't love playing in puddles with mud and worms?

I took the boys out to play in the water and it wasn't until we stepped outside that I realized it was about 50 degrees outside and really windy. I really should not have let them play in the puddle but I already told them what we were going to do, so as soon as they went outside - off they went. I only let them play for about 5-10 minutes..it was just too chilly. I expect many more days like this, hopefully warmer and I'll check the temp outside first next time. Nonetheless, they had a blast and HATED when it was time to come in, even thoough their poor feet were red.

I'll shut up now and post the pictures.

Why Monkey's Shouldn't Jump on The Bed

So, we're all familiar with the song "10 little Monkey's jumping on the bed...one fell off and bumped his head......" Well, my son was that monkey and I'd like to say he's learned his lesson but he hasn't. Ashlynn loves to let the boys play in her room and they absolutely love playing in her room. The only bad thing is they also love to jump off her bed. Well, this is what happens.

He jumped off her bed and fell into her door knob...it's all better now but it looked nasty for a while. "No more monkey's jumping on the bed!"

Fun Day at the Park

It's finally getting warm enough to play outside!!! YAY! Although it was only February we were able to go out with short sleeves and no jacket, it was so nice to be able to get out of the house. I wanted to take the boys to a new park so I got the GPS that I bought my husband for our anniversary and chose a park and we were on our way. Such a nice time.

Here are some pictures of our lovely day....

The very first thing they went on was the Tire Swing...they had a blast!

"Go round Mommy!" They kept telling me to push them in circles.

Such a handsome young man...and he's all mine :)
"Stop calling my name Mom! I'm trying to play! If you want pictures you're just going to have to take them candidly!" Okay, he really didn't say that but I'm pretty sure he was thinking it.
Phoenix is actually coming down in this picture...yep, put his boot right on his brothers head.

He's such a ham and handsome too.
Oh, look it's the dreaded swings. They had me pushing them for at least 30-40 minutes
"Go high Mommmmmaaaayy!"
He thinks he's cool by poppin' his collar haha
"Come get me Nonah!"
Ummm...Phoenix? You might want to run a little faster because Jonah is serious about coming to get you!
That's much better. Brotherly love at it's best.

12 Ways to Love Your Husband Without Saying a Word

Did you know that there are many ways you can love your man without even saying a word? This is one list of creative ideas to get you going, but certainly don’t be limited to these suggestions. Use your creativity and love on that man!

1. Clean Laundry – clean socks, clean t-shirts, and clean under garments folded &; put away. A simple service but keeps the man happy. Nothing says 'I love you' like clean underwear.

2. Warm Bread, Favorite Meal, and a Cold Beverage (or just a nice dessert) waiting on the table when he comes home. (Maybe not necessary every night. I aim for a special meal or dessert once a week.)

3. Not nagging during those times when he needs to rest and relax to be doing something else. Give him thirty minutes after he returns home to just rest and not demand his help with the kids, take out the trash, or some other service.

4. Not nagging period.

5. Not nagging about your period.

6. Smiling when your eyes meet his.

7.Washing his truck, car, motorcycle…whatever his big boy toy might be. (Bonus points for cleaning the interior too ladies!)

8. Stopping whatever “busy” work you might be doing to just sit and join him in whatever activity he is doing. Does he like puzzles, books, building things, playing music, watching football? We need to stop considering these interests to be a burden and learn to enjoy doing them with our husbands. This is one of the best ways to build your marriage…to simply enjoy being with him! When we stop to enjoy what they enjoy, it will grow to become our delight as well!

9. Hold his hand whenever you can. Be it the mall, the grocery store, the neighborhood, or at church. Just whenever you can.

10. Get to bed before him, take a nice warm bath, put on some perfumed lotion, something frilly or whatever you know he likes and wait.

11. Do something for him, just because.
12. Greet him at the door with a smile and a kiss. How often do we get caught up in dinner preparations that we don’t even notice our husband’s return? Make a habit of stopping at the sound of his footsteps and give him a welcoming smile and kiss!
